The two day-training is comprised of four modules.  Module one is titled “The Roles and Responsibilities of a Super Supervisor.”  After attending this module will be able to:

  • Describe the difference between good supervisors and bad supervisors,
  • Compare and contrast the supervisor’s role as a leader and as a manager,
  • List the keys activities of a Super Supervisor, and
  • Use the knowledge gained in this module as the foundation for developing credibility as a supervisor, creating a culture of accountability, and assessing and addressing employee performance problems.

 

Module two, “Developing Credibility as a Supervisor” is about how leaders earn the trust and confidence of the people they supervise.  It is about the actions leaders must take in order to intensify their followers’ commitment to a common cause. As a result of active participation in this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • List the qualities that followers look for and admire in leaders,
  • Discuss the principles and disciplines that strengthen leadership credibility, and
  • Describe the actions they can take immediately to apply the principles and disciplines to their own leadership initiatives.

 

Module three, “Building a Culture of Accountability” will focus on getting participants to see a Culture of Accountability exists, not by “holding people accountable” for their actions or addressing issues when performance wanes, but an environment leaders create that paves the road to success rather than on that provides an excuse for failure.

As a result of their active participation in this module, participants will be able to:

  • Define the terms “culture” and “accountability,”
  • List and describe the two measures required for a task to be successfully completed,
  • Describe the four pillars of accountability,
  • Explain the three ways a specific organizational culture is created,
  • List the six steps for building a culture of accountability,
  • Identify the four types of employees based upon how they respond to chance and describe how to deal with each type.
  • Explain the three things that happen when poor performance or non-performance is not confronted.

 

Module four, “Assessing and Addressing Employee Performance will get participants to understand that solutions to solving poor performance or nonperformance are like keys in locks; they don’t work if they do not fit and that if the solutions are not the right ones, the problems do not get solved.

Employee performance problems can be solved, especially those caused by our own lack of knowledge or skill at applying principles of human behavior.

This module focuses on assessing and addressing problems that arise when the employee’s performance does not meet organizational standards. Using a case study method, participants will practice using the skills and knowledge taught in this module.

Participants who actively participate in this session, will be able to:

  • Explain the supervisor’s role in solving employee performance problems.
  • Use an instrument provided by the instructor to both identify the reason an employee is not in compliance with performance standards and determine what type of solution is mostly likely to work, and
  • Use a four-step process to address the performance problem with the employee.
