After attending this Officer Safety Workshop taught by MBA Training Associate Jeremy Patin, participants will be able to:
- Explain the reality of threats to officer safety by describing where, when, and how often officers are victimized, and discuss specific instances of officer victimization,
- Discuss strategies for survival,
- Describe methods of dealing with aggressive behavior and selecting the appropriate method for the situation,
- Respond appropriately to safety issues related to the different types of special populations,
- Explain how physical considerations, layout and design, alarms, panic buttons, metal detectors, and dress codes have an impact on officer safety,
- Articulate the appropriate safety protocols when transporting juveniles, and
- Assess safety issues both in the office and when transporting juveniles
