Developing an Inclusive, Respectful and Productive Workplace
Today’s workplace is more diverse than it has been at any time in history. This diversity brings to the work place a number of advantages, but in order for the workplace to reap the rewards that diversity brings, employees must develop the skills, knowledge and abilities to work together in such a way that that make the work environment inclusive, respectful and productive. This topics covered in this two-day training program provide the tools participants will need to achieve that goal.
Day 1
Celebrating Differences in the Workplace
8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm
“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences” (Lourde, 2012). We are continuously faced with different people and their cultures in the workplace. A positive and successful work environment is based on relationships and how well people work with one another. Understanding and awareness of cultural diversity will create and sustain change that fosters a more diverse, inclusive, respectful, and productive workplace environment. During this highly interactive workshop, participants will:
- Increase knowledge required to function effectively in an organization with employees of multiple-genders, generations, ethnicity, national origins and belief systems,.
- Enhance awareness of learned prejudices and fears about differences,
- Identify behaviors and attitudes that contribute to prejudices, discrimination, and stereotypes, and
- Develop skills to increase the level of competence in cross-cultural conflict resolution,
Day 2
Sexual Harassment in the Workplace
8:30 am – 12:00 pm
During this workshop, participants will:
- Define sexual harassment,
- Understand the types of sexual harassment,
- Examine why it is important to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace,
- Understand what retaliation is and help prevent claims by employees who complain of sexual harassment,
- Examine policy and procedures on sexual harassment,
- Understand responsibilities of supervisors for handling complaints and assisting in investigations and disciplinary action.
Day 2
Professionalism and Ethics in the Workplace
1:30 pm – 5:00 pm
During this workshop, participants will:
- Define Ethics,
- Explore misconceptions about Ethics
- Discuss Ethical dilemmas that have been faced by workshop participants Examine the sources of ethical behavior
- Explore the impact
- Examine “personal rights” verses “professional rights”
- Explore Josephson’s principles of decision making
