Developing a Work-Life Balance

September 5, 2023   2:00 – 4:00 pm Central Time

A virtual workshop
Facilitated by Spencer Washington

“Work-life balance is the state where a person chooses to equally prioritize the demands of work and career and the demands of their personal life. An individual who lacks this balance has more work and home obligations, works longer hours, and lacks personal time. With the increasing integration of technology into our lives and a global economy that is still recovering from the effects of the COVID pandemic, achieving work-life balance has never been more challenging. Organizations are consistently asking their employees to produce more while working with less resources. The cultural, economic, and career obstacles that impact our pursuit of work-life balance often lead to chronic stress, mental health symptoms, and even mental health disorders. This presentation endeavors to examine the contemporary context of work-life balance in America from a mental health perspective.”
